Is there a minimum net worth?

No — the desk has a profile, not a minimum. If your client’s income is simple and their bank happily says yes, they don’t need us. When holding companies, trusts, seven-figure properties or cross-border assets enter the picture — that’s when this desk earns its keep. The only published figure is a program fact, not a gate: the net-worth lane looks for $250,000 in verifiable liquid assets, and the income lanes have no wealth test at all.

Does the desk ever manage money or sell investments?

Accepted Answer

No. We arrange mortgage financing only — we hold no investment licence and want none. We coordinate with the client's advisor and accountant so the financing complements the portfolio rather than competing with it. That lane discipline is the reason advisors send us their best relationships.

What files does the desk actually take?

The ones retail lending declines or mishandles: asset-rich, income-light clients whose income flows through holdcos, trusts, dividends or capital gains; jumbo and portfolio mortgages across multiple properties; borrow-don't-sell structures that raise liquidity without triggering a sale or a tax event; and cross-border or foreign-income files with the documentation they require.

How is the desk compensated?

On most placements the lender pays the brokerage on funding — the client pays nothing for our work. Where a file genuinely requires a brokerage fee — some private and specialized structures do — it is disclosed plainly, in writing, before anyone commits to anything. No surprises, to you or your client.

Where is the desk licensed — and what about clients elsewhere in Canada?

Ramin Hallaji is licensed in British Columbia (BCFSA) and Alberta (RECA): in British Columbia under Mortgage Guru Financial, and in Alberta under DLC AIMI Collective Mortgage Group, within the Dominion Lending Centres Group. For clients in other provinces we co-broker with a locally licensed colleague and stay fully involved — one desk still owns the file, the standard doesn't change, and the relationship still comes back to you.

How is confidentiality handled?

Sensitive files are handled quietly, on a need-to-know basis. Nothing is shared beyond this desk without the client's explicit consent — and any professional we bring in (an accountant, a lawyer, a locally licensed co-broker) sees the minimum the work requires. Discretion isn't a feature here; it's the operating system.

How fast can a time-sensitive file move?

Speed is one of the three reasons this desk exists. A confidential conversation happens within one business day of an introduction; from there we map the structure against the balance sheet, identify the lenders who underwrite it properly, and manage the file to close on the client's timeline — without cutting the corners that matter. Complex files reward an early start, so the best time to call is before the deadline exists.

What does introducing a client actually look like?

There's no obligation and nothing is disturbed: the first conversation is simply whether the file is one we can place well. If it isn't, we say so plainly and early. If a client of yours could use the reverse — a financing-side second opinion before a decision — that costs nothing too.
